Overview
Lake Bogoria is a saline, alkaline lake located in the eastern part of the Great Rift Valley in Kenya. It is part of the Lake Bogoria National Reserve, which covers an area of approximately 107 square kilometers (41 square miles). The reserve is known for its unique geological features, hot springs, and abundant birdlife. One of the notable attractions of Lake Bogoria is its large population of lesser flamingos. The lake is considered one of the best places in Kenya to observe these beautiful pink birds in large numbers. The flamingos feed on the algae that thrive in the alkaline waters of the lake, creating a breathtaking spectacle of color. Lake Bogoria National Reserve is also home to other bird species, including the great white pelican, African fish eagle, pied kingfisher, and various species of herons and storks. The reserve's diverse birdlife makes it a paradise for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts.Sights
